Create
your own Ceremony

Akumal Weddings can help you take care of all the
details of your wedding.
Day or night, you can tie the knot in a beautiful, natural,
and romantic location on the Vista
del Mar and La
Buena Vida Restaurant properties.
Our weddings take place on the beachfront overlooking Half Moon
Bay,
decorated with with palm fronds and natural jungle flowers.
An aisle leading to the beach is set up with a border of white stones.
If you have not had a chance to visit our property before your wedding
we can arrange to have you meet with our on-site coordinator a couple
of days before your wedding to choose the spot that is right for
you. The coordinator will show you the various options available
and discuss all the last minute details of your ceremony with you.
We can arrange to have chairs placed on the beach for your guests, a flower covered arch for the altar area, or tiki torches to
add to the ambience of the ceremony.
Prices vary.

Decide what type of Ceremony you wish to have:
SPIRITUAL
WEDDING (non-legal)
Spiritual weddings are not legal ceremonies. They are an affirmation
of the couple's commitment to one another. Participating in this
ceremony will not legally change your marital status. In a spiritual
wedding, anyone can perform the ceremony: a religious person, a
friend or a local person can do it. Most couples officially marry
before arriving in Mexico.
If you prefer a simple spiritual service, we can arrange for you
to be married by Akumal Weddings' celebrant for a fee of $200. Our celebrant has performed several spiritual weddings and is
available to perform your ceremony for you. You may also wish to
choose your own special person to conduct your wedding ceremony.
CIVIL WEDDING (legal)
If
you wish to have a civil wedding, the ceremony can be performed
by a Justice of the Peace for about $500. Additional costs in paperwork
and tests are about $200. There are many legal requirements involved
in having your union recognized legally by the country of Mexico.
Blood tests, doctors' certificates, translations, and witnesses
are just part of the regulations for getting legally married in
Mexico. Also, you must be present in the country for 4 working days
prior to the wedding as there is a mandatory waiting period before
the wedding.

VOW
RENEWAL
The cost for renewing your vows is $250 and includes rental of the
beachfront area and decorations of fresh flowers, as well as on-site
assistance from our coordinator in Akumal.
The celebrant's services are $200. Or you may provide your own celebrant.
This is a non-legal ceremony
with standard renewal vows and/or vows chosen by you.
One possibility for after your Vow Renewal is to have dinner afterwards, at
our lovely beachfront restaurant, La Buena Vida. We can set up a
choice table with panoramic views of Half
Moon Bay.

VOWS: Many couples choose to write their own vows or combine their own
words with a standard wedding ceremony. For this reason we suggest
you have a copy of the vows to give to the celebrant in advance. Vow renewals and same sex commitment ceremonies
are welcome.
COSTS:
Spiritual
Ceremony: $450 ($250 for the wedding, $200 for the celebrant)
Legal
Ceremony: about $1000-$1200
($500 for JP, $500 for wedding, $200
other charges)
Vow Renewal: $250
Rental of Private Dining Room:
high season $1000 (Dec-April)
low season $500 (May-Nov)
Musicians must be paid in cash at the time of performance.
Religious ceremonies performed by the Catholic church are not permitted
on the beach. They must take place in a church. For this reason
we do not coordinate Cathlic wedding ceremonies.
